Rep. Ted Budd advanced out of the May 17 primary without drama into the general election for U.S. Senate in a race for the seat being vacated by the retiring Richard Burr.
Budd has an 8-point lead over former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley in the Tarheel State’s Senate election in November, according to a new East Carolina University (ECU) poll released May 23.
Budd wins the support of 47 percent of registered voters in the poll, while 39 percent of registered voters back Beasley, the Democratic Party’s nominee. Another 12 percent remain undecided, in a sign that the two candidates’ standings could fluctuate. Read more.
